Adoptable Large Spayed/NeuteredUp-to-date with routine shots

Rosco is a handsome boy who found himself at our shelter after his owner passed away. Rosco is 12 yrs old, weighs 68 lbs, walks well on leash, loves other dogs, and is seeking his forever home to live out his golden years! Rosco likes to be near us; he follows us around while we clean kennels. Rosco enjoys having his chest stroked and belly rubbed. When he lays on his side for belly rubs, he is so peaceful and relaxed. He puts his front paws on his face and looks like a young boy enjoying life. Rosco’s fur loss is primarily due to anxiety from losing his human but he is being treated with an antibiotic for any possible underlying skin condition. He is moderately arthritic in his hind legs, but does so well on walks and playtime in our run area on Rimadyl & joint supplement. His blood work (Chem-10 panel) is within normal ranges for all levels, which is remarkable for a dog his size and age. Rosco is neutered and up to date on everything including Heartworm prevention. His coat needs groomed (we’re hoping to have that done soon), so he’ll feel even better!

For rescues, his fees are sponsored. For an approved adopter, his fee is waived. We also accept applications for intermediate care fostering.

For adoption inquiries, please contact Kelly, our Adoption Coordinator, at or inquire directly via Petfinder. We are a volunteer-based humane society; please be patient with our response time to your inquiries. We are not able to assess dogs with cats since we are a small, rural shelter set up for dog intake only. We may be able to provide an opinion on how a dog may get along with cats, but behavior in your home is unknown until they would be properly introduced under supervision. For inquiries regarding a dog’s behavior with small children, the majority of our shelter dogs are unclaimed strays & we have limited or no history. We always recommend a meet and greet with our dogs available for adoption.
